Additional information about DNS
The Domain Name System (DNS) is the underlying structure of the Internet by allowing the usage of domain
names or hostnames (i.e. melbourneitdbs.com) to access websites on the Internet and send email by translating
human readable domain names into IP addresses (such as 203.27.227.111). This is an essential part of the Internet
as networking equipment need an IP address for delivery information. DNS also stores other information such as
the list of mail exchange servers that accept email for a given domain.
