Gatwick.com dispute gathers pace
Friday, 8 October 2004A UK software engineer is reportedly at the centre of a bitter dispute with international airport group BAA.
According to The Register, Bob Larkin, who owns the Gatwick.com domain name, claims to have been treated in a biased and unfair way by both BAA and the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), which is deciding the case.
Mr Larkin is now threatening to take his case to the UK High Court to ensure he receives a fair hearing.
The engineer is particularly disputing the choice of panellists chosen by WIPO, one of four global bodies responsible for settling domain name challenges, to hear his case.
One of the chosen panellists, Isabel Davies, teaches on the same university course as BAAs lawyer Simon Bennett and several of the other panellists have repeatedly been chosen by complainants to hear their cases.
