New Spanish subdomains to be launched in next few days.

Friday, 28 November 2003
As reported in recent newsletters, the new .com/.nom/.org.es domains will be available to the public from December 10th on a first-come first-served basis. Although the registry is still finalising some regulation issues, registration will be unrestricted and available to any registrant and there will be no limitation to the number of names registered. Dot-es domains have traditionally been notoriously difficult to register.

In order to increase the chances of registration success for our clients, Cogent IPC has made arrangements with a local provider to facilitate the immediate filing of domain name applications. Applications will be queued before the launch (from December 3rd) and submitted as soon as the registry opens.

Please note that this is not a pre-registration and as such Cogent IPC can not guarantee that the names applied for will be accepted, or not registered to third parties. As with dot-eu we always recommend clients to beware of pre-registration schemes, as the rights to the names can only be obtained when the registry grants them and in this case certainly not in advance of December 10th. Applications will be reviewed and submitted for queuing on December 3rd, to maximise the chance of obtaining the desired names.

One of your team members within Cogent IPC will be in contact with you in the next few days to discuss your specific application requirements, whether for name protection or local domain name use, and to arrange for the necessary information to be collected accordingly.
