.travel third party pre-authentication period starting soon
Monday, 22 August 2005The .travel TLD is designed to serve the global travel and tourism community. The main goals of the new TLD are to create a stronger Internet identity, increased adoption of online technology and enhanced linkages between the industry and customers.
The third party pre-authentication period of the .travel TLD starts August 22, 2005. Travel industry businesses and organizations that are not members of an authenticating travel association will be able to complete their authentication for eligibility if they hold a Dun & Bradstreet (DUNS) Number. Pre-authentications can already be done by certain members of travel associations. A list of these travel associations can be found here: http://www.ttpc.org/members.htm.
Please note that pre-authentication is a prior step towards registering a .travel domain name. The third party pre-authentication period will close September 25, 2005. Once the authentication has been completed, everything is ready for filing the actual application for registration. The limited launch will open October 1, 2005. The limited launch is an ICANN requirement and will run for 90 days to serve as a transitional period before the official launch of the TLD later this year.
